Education with STRIVE Movement

Intelligent training made simple

What is a Movement Coach?

Movement Coaches develop an intimate and intuitive understanding of the human body and how it works, and applies that knowledge to improve how a client feels, moves and performs.

Whilst some coaches specialise in resolving aches, pains or recovering from injury, others work with athletes to develop sport performance, almost all coaches focus on core movement skills.

What Makes STRIVE Different?

Firstly, STRIVE is a ‘movement-based, functional training system’. So unlike gymnastics or callisthenics, STRIVE exercises reflect activities of daily life. Clients will practice bending and lifting, pushing and pulling, shifting and twisting, in lots of different directions and in lots of interesting and unusual ways. Incorporating body weight, gymnastic movements with specific exercises to develop core strength, balance and flexibility.

At STRIVE, we have two core ‘beliefs’ that form our perspective; Natural Movement and Intelligent Training.

Natural Movement refers to taking advantage of millions of years of evolutionary adaptation. We aim to prescribe exercises that reflect the functions the human body has evolved to perform, including walking, running, jumping, crawling, carrying and climbing.

Intelligent Training refers to the idea that it is the ‘Mind’ that controls movement, pain and performance, and therefore to create ‘intelligent training’, coaches should take advantage of ‘neuroscience’, the science of how the brain controls and coordinates movement.

We have condensed emerging neuroscience to create five key training principles.

We believe that ‘intelligent training’ should be:

At STRIVE, learn to:

Design Movement-Based Training to develop ‘movement’ as well as muscle.

Apply emerging neuroscience to create Intelligent Training.

Apply STRIVE Principles to develop functional fitness and Hysterical Strength.
